The Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty (UKA) procedure offers several benefits for patients with a moderately active lifestyle, who have arthritis in only one knee compartment.

There are two concepts in use; the spherical and the poli-radial fixed-bearing designs with different philosophies and uses. The main advantage of the fixed bearing is the ease of insertion and the zero rate of bearing dislocation. The mobile version has improved wear qualities and a 1-2% dislocation rate.

The UniQ prosthesis addresses the wear of the fixed bearing (retreadable) and also the dislocation of the mobile bearing (placement of a fixed bearing). Therefore the bearing is interchangeable as a fixed or mobile for wear or dislocation.
